Many of us think of "renewable energy" as energy that is produced by using a renewable resource such as wind or the sun or hydro-electric power. Most people consider these to be "clean energy".
Few of us, however, think of energy that is not used as an energy source. In fact, it is the cleanest energy there is. Amory Lovins of the Rocky Mountain Institute coined a new term. He called them "Negawatts". He said "There is no cheaper or cleaner power than the power you don't produce".
A GeoExchange™ system still uses some energy…electricity to power the compressors and pumps, but a well designed system uses much less energy than a conventional heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system.
