The Province of Ontario identified the need for a training centre to train workers to operate and maintain municipal water systems throughout the province. The 22,000 square foot facility includes classrooms, administration areas and active training rooms.
The provincial initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions prompted the desire to explore the possibility of using geothermal heating and cooling.
Geo-Xergy Systems worked with TSH Engineers, Architects and Planners to develop a horizontal ground heat exchanger design for the facility. Geo-Xergy calculated the peak heating and cooling loads and monthly energy loads to ensure the GHX system would provide a long-term solution for the building.
